Video Game Flick ‘Tetris’ Will Be a Trilogy

Via STACK

Producer Larry Kassanoff has confirmed that the feature film adaptation of 1984 video game Tetris will be a trilogy. He told Empire that the reason behind this decision was that the story is so big. Kassanoff's previous credits include the Mortal Combat franchise and the popular film True Lies. Although few details are being revealed about the project, we know that the filmmakers intend to give it a global feel. The plan is to shoot parts of the movie in China. It is also being categorized as a sci-fi thriller. "We want the story to be a surprise, but it's a big science-fiction movie," Kasanoff said of the untitled film. "I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos. We're not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie, but it's great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!" The trend of making movies based on video games is not slowing down, thanks to their profitability. The genre  provokes strong feelings. Moviegoers either love them or hate them with a passion. Some games seem to lend themselves more easily to film adaptations, but it's hard to imagine a plot and characters centered around Tetris, which involves fitting differently-shaped blocks together in patterns. But as we've seen time and again, where there's a big enough fan base, there's a way. The filmmakers assure us that no one has been able to guess what they're doing with this project, so maybe we shouldn't even try. [cf]skyword_tracking_tag[/cf]
